It amazes me how well the show holds up after all these years. Seeing the episodes again made my heart happy. My poor vhs tapes have been worn out for years - it's nice to have them all on dvd so that I can share them with my future children someday. Travis was one-of-a-kind as Ike. So sweet, charming - and funny! You've gotta love him at the dance with Amanda O'Connell, and when he caught Jimmy with the flower in his lapel - then played innocent when everyone else somehow knew, and when he told the orphan who asked about his hair that he was "born that way". Great stuff. He was the moral core of that show - a terrific role model. Every one of those young actors did a great job, and it must have truly been a blast to film that series. It'd be fun to hear what he thinks about the release... I wish Travis all the best, personally and professionally! (I keep hoping I'll spot him at an airport someday.) He gave us some wonderful and touching moments in "The Young Riders", and it's about time we get to enjoy them in their uninterrupted, original state. Vaya con dios, Ike! (Incidentally, I also enjoyed Travis in the "Abigail" trilogy on one of my other all-time favorite shows of that time period, Quantum Leap. It was such a nice surprise to see him!)
