I hope to get there, my sister and her husband winter in Tucson and it would be a great reunion. I have never been to one of the reunions, I was in Takhli from February 1969 to February 1970 as a jet engine mechanic on the f105 engine j75-w.
Info posted by Bill Cook to the 355th/Takhli Facebook Group.
Pleased to announce some details on the 2024 Reunion in Tucson. Arrival date is 28 Feb 2024 and depart on 4 Mar. We will be at our favorite hotel in Tucson, the Viscount Suites. Rooms will be $125 plus tax (about $145 total) for the first 30 reservations. Any rooms after that will probably be $145 plus tax or about $166 total. I think we were lucky to get a block of 30 rooms since it is their busy season.
I do know we will be at Heritage Flying on base both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Other activities are being planned by both Carl (Zak) and Roger Meeker so more details will be in the official invitation.
------------
The A-10s will be leaving Davis-Monthan over the next five transition years. The new parent unit at D-M will be the 492nd Special Operations Wing and it will be a consolidation of seven units from around the country. DM will still be an important base with a new mission focusing on Special Ops.
The 355th Wing has been an important part of our D-M reunions for years. The Tucson area has a variety of interesting activities for tours. We've had a great run at Davis-Monthan.
