I received my Brown Envelope today. I am posting this to encourage others that may have filed for Herbicide Exposure while stationed at Takhli. After two years of waiting I was awarded 70 percent disabled for diabetes II, IHD, and neuropathy. We are so, so, so grateful for this answer to our prayers. Something that I was not counting on, they are paying me for the diabetes II back to when I first filed and was rejected in 2002 because I had no proof of boots on the ground. The decision letter they sent me states, “Your exposure to herbicides in Thailand is conceded. VA acknowledges exposure to tactical herbicides, such as Agent Orange, on a direct, occupational, or facts found basis for Veterans with duty on military base perimeters in Thailand during the Vietnam era…..”
I know that some will have a lot of questions about what I did. I was fortune enough to have copies of my orders going to and from Takhli. I also had a performance report that put me in the bomb dump which was on the perimeter. I got a satellite photo of the base off the internet and submitted it along with copies of my various doctor’s reports, prescriptions, lab work, and anything else I could think of. I also was fortune enough, in a sense, to be sent back to the USA as my orders showed an Air Police with that I started cross training on my off time while there.
We hope that this will help some others in their filing for herbicide exposure. Don’t give up and keep up with your filing.

John, it shows even after years of waiting, there is an outcome. So happy for you. I still say, do your homework, proof of where you worked on base will decide your case. Maps and photos on the internet showing where you work , along with your MOS is needed to be approved in Thailand. I spent weeks gathering info and wrote a 4 page claim of support when I filed for diabetes. I was approved year later. Claims are being approved for Thailand as we write on this website.

John how do I find the satellite pic of Takhli. I was there for 1 year in 1973 with the 474th TFW supporting the 6280th Combat support Group.

I am in process of submitting claim and information from back in 2007 and it still seems its not enough. I was in the 355th in Takhli and I need picture that I've been reading in the various post and any additional help/suggestions. From John's post, I guess persistence helps. Where did you do while you were in Takhli? I was on the perimeter during my tour in that I was in the munitions storage area and all of my photos related to that. I found some of them by researching the internet.

I recieved a call from va office asking if he had my permission to send app to ratings . He said it would take 30 days if he had to mail out slip I sign and send back. I ask how long this would take he said 5 to 10 days. Haven't heard a thing. What happens after this, what comes next someone help help help. I am a 67 year old veitnam vet on social security dissablity. Had all info for va when applied. I was in Vietnam for3 years in the navy agent orange was everywhere . Boots did touch soil and water. Can anyone help when will I here and again what's next
