Here is a link to an excellent interview with Wayne Waddell and the story of his AF career from ROTC at Georga Tech, thru his F-105 training and - tour of duty at Takhli with the 354th TFS.

On the fateful day of Jul 5th, 1967 Wayne'a F-105 was downed over NVN by flak from a Chinese manned AAA battery. He was captured with an ensuing 6 years as a POW in various camps in and around Hanoi. It's an inspiring first-person account and so compelling you will stay thru every ad that You Tube inserts to get on with Wayne's story.

Wayne was released by the North Vietnamese in March 1973 and went on to complete 30 years with the USAF, retiring as an 06 in 1987. He earned many awards including two Silver Stars. Hand salute to Col. Wayne Waddell.
