I would say that you are correct about partying on was the reason for the RON. But of course during the tall tales and true talk there were probably snippets of tactics and aircraft performance issues bought up on a small scale just to make the visit official:-)))

I was with the 27th
TFW during the 1963/1964 deployments from Cannon AFB New Mexico. The F100's and the Ausse F86's had a very good working relationship at that time. Several of our crews stayed RON in Ubon (to party with the RAAF would be my bet) and I was called on the help with the turnaround of their F86's during a couple RON visits to Takhli.
So, yes their was a relationship and comradery between the USAF (Takhli) and the RAAF (Ubon) that I must assume included air to air training. Previous Message
I have read in the official RAAF Ubon Unit history the soon after the arrival of the RAAF at Ubon in July 1962 there was interaction between the aircraft of both service with practice interceptions and dog fights. can any one on this page give me details of these event and how long they continues. personal accounts would be fantastic.
