Re: LINK - VA Statemet on Thai Bases and herbicide Exposure
My case was submitted in Sept. 2014 by San Mateo County, Human Services Agency, County Veterans Rep's. After the case, spending 11 months at VA Regionals in Oakland, Ca, in Aug. 2015 it came back denied stating I did not show proof I was stationed in Vietnam?? ALL my paperwork including 2 performance reports read: Thailand!! Nice to know that VA Regional personnel don't know that Thailand and Vietnam are 2 separate countries!! A mistake, NO. Intentional, YES! A Request for Reconsideration was done and the case reopened in Dec 2015. Still waiting, from Janesville, Wi. now. Bottom line, Takhli was sprayed in 1973. 2 of the many areas that were sprayed, that I recall, were in the outside some bldgs on the flight line. I believe near the MMS and Communcations bldgs. The other area I distinctly remember was the open field near the main gate. I wish I could remember more but it's been 43 years!! Also, Col Lacy who was the Wing Commander, left in 1973 and his going away party was in a hanger on "the flight line". Not all that far from areas that were sprayed. VA will try to delay your claim and take their time on your case. Do NOT give up, document your paperwork and keep pressing the VA. If my case gets denied from Wisconisn, my next course is NOD (Notice of Disagreement). It's like the "kiss of death" because it will take several years to decide. Yes, VA does this for a reason...When I did 4 casualty reports in 73/74 for the CBPO, Personal Affairs Office, like I had stated before, my office was one of the offices that was informed before spraying took place. Fact is Fact and VA cannot deny or coverup what really happened at Takhli
