Peter's rank was A1C and his unit was the 355th A&E Maint Squadron. He was an Electronic Warfare Systems Repairman working mainly on F-105 Airplanes. His work each day took him out to the Flightline to remove the Pods that the Electronics were in. Then he would take the Pod back to their Workshop, repair the Electronics, and go back to install the repaired Pod in the plane. The VA Denied my Claim for Spousal Benefits after Peter died, saying his records didn't show him being near the Perimeter. But I have a map and picture of the Takhli Base. The planes parked on the Flightline and the Perimeter don't look very far apart. I am wondering if someone knew Peter when he was at Takhli 1n 1968, and knew other reasons he would have been near the Perimeter, possibly for recreation or some other reason. Peter died of two types of Cancer that are on the "VA Presumptive List". His Oncologist has written a letter stating those diseases were caused by exposure to Herbicides, and Peter's Death was caused by those two diseases and the Herbicide Exposure. I only have a few days this week and the Appeal documents have to be sent to the VA. I would greatly appreciate any information and help that anyone can give me right away. I just found out about your website yesterday!
Thank you very much for your reply to me, Dick. I have been talking to Susie Swan for the last few weeks and she has been wonderful sharing her knowledge. It turns out that her Dad and Peter worked at the Flightline at the same time, December 1967 and January and February 1968, before her Dad was transferred to another Base. Susie is sure they must have known each other since Takhli was a small Base, only about two miles wide! Again, thanks for your help, Dick, and I look forward to your good advice. Best Regards, Betty Mosshart
