Some of the names are familiar but I'd have to put a face with the name. I was usually a crew chief on the night shift when we went back to the flight-line shop, after they built bomb crate bunkers for the aircraft. I remember being on night shift rebuilding gun systems the last 3 to 5 months I was there. (actually that's all I did the entire time I was there except for the occasional parachute jump with METRAPAP.
Before shipping to Thailand, I had trained with a bomb load crew from Seymore Johnson but got delayed at Travis and ended up working in the gun shop instead of with the crew I trained with. I can still see the looks on the guys faces when a beautiful blonde picked me up at San Francisco International Airport in a bright yellow Austin Healey convertible.
Your name is familiar as is Roehl and Brown and Freeman. I'll have to scan a couple of photos of what I looked like in those days.
Thanks for the post. We all got old and memories tend to fade.
Take Care for now............Cliff
