Hi Susie: I did notice I forgot the "r" in Support--old age and fat fingers! Life support troops took care of all the aircrews personal and survival equipment. This included their helmets, O2 masks, survival kits, parachutes--inspecting only--parachute riggers did the parachte packing. We maintained and repaired anti-G suits, life preservers, life rafts, anti-exposure suits etc. We maintained pressure suits--just like the astronauts wore. We also We taught water, jungle and artic survival plus teaching parachute landing falls. GREAT JOB--right in the middle of the action. Very rewarding when the crews using the equipment got home---it sucked when they didn't. I know how rewarding was for me to have a pilot who was shot down and rescued come back and say what ya taught them saved their life. I had a briefing on using the survival radio, locator beacon and hand held flare guns one day and he got shot down 2 days later and made it back. Makes the job all that much more rewarding. Thsnks for asking and taking an interest! Bob
