Hello My Fellow Takhli Vets,
I filed a claim over two years ago and after much delay and circumstance, I was denied.I have an attorney firm looking at my case.The problem is this: I worked in Supply ,on the flight line,but I also was directed from my normal workplace to pull Overnight (12 hours+) Augmentation Duty,with a M16 with One clip and a radio that didn't work 90% of the time.
I know I was exposed to Herbicides and AO. In talking to the attorney's office, I need to provide a personalized buddy statement to collaborate my story.All of health issues matter not if I can't have my augmentee duty Confirmed.Otherwise,I'm just making it all up.Thank God I found this site because that was over 40 years ago,most of those I served with are no doubt dealing with health issues as well od have passed on.
I came to Takhli with the 474th Wing from Nellis AFB for(6) month TDY. I worked in Supply and my duty office was on the flightline and the front of the building I worked in read "ZERO NO DEFECTS" above the entry door.I had several good friends that were pilots and I used to walk over an chat with them alongside their beat-up F-4's and F-111's.I just remember the awful stench that was ever present on the flightline. Pulling augmentation was terrible,they drove us outside the perimeter and left us at a post, in the jungle overnite....UNBELlVEABLE !!! If anyone served at Takhli served during the time I was there Oct 1972-March 1973 PLEASE-PLEASE get in touch with me as I'm going to fight this APPEAL as HARD as I fought for my country for 6 years....Along with my fond Air Force memories, I now have fond memories of not living with, PROSTATE CANCER,DIABETES,PTSD, KIDNEY ISSUES,STROKE,HEADACHES,VISION ISSUES...???
