I'm not sure how many of you are aware of this but both the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) publish a great magazine every two or three months that they send out to their members. They contain a lot of good reading and information. Sometimes they contain health alert type information that we would otherwise never hear about. They both have a search section.
For veterans like many of us using this site that are searching for people they were stationed with while in the military at Takhli or anywhere else for buddy letters, both of the magazines have a section in the back where you can post who you are are searching for. Some vets are looking for a specific person and some are searching for anyone from a particular squadron or were involved with some assignment or incident. These organizations have thousands of members that read the magazine and will see the search request. The person or people you're looking for may be members and see your request or they know the person you're looking for and tell them about the request.
Searching for old friends is very frustrating for those of you that have done it. It can drive you nuts with frustration sometimes. This is another tool for searching for lost buddies.
Good reason to join the DAV or VFW or both like I did. Membership dues is pretty reasonable. I also am a member of the American Legion. They have a good magazine but it doesn't have a buddy search section for VA disability claim support. At least not to my knowledge.
If you go to monthly Chapter or Post meetings you may run into vets like yourself that served at Takhli or other Thai bases. They may help you out with buddy letters. The guy you're looking for may live in your city or at least near you.
