My father was stationed there during these years. In fact the story I remember he was the one who locked the gate when they closed down the base which I understand had reopened again for a short time. His name is SMSGT Donald E. Thompson. In the service many called him Tommy. He is now 81 years old.. with his memory failing but enjoys speaking about his time there. If anyone remembers him I would love to hear your stories.
