Re: FUN MEMORIES
Before the new AEMS building was built we worked out of an old hooch which had a wooded bridge spanning the gully next to the squadron commander's office which was in the back corner. The commander was deathly afraid of snakes and had some flunky (more on him later) get a brush hook and start cutting the elephant grass along the gully. This wizard got tired of the physical aspects of his assignment and talked someone at POL out of five gallons of jet fuel so he could burn the grass down. He then proceeded to walk back and forth along the sides of the little bridge scattering the JP-4 down into the grass below and then set it alight. The bridge caught fire and it traveled to the corner of the commander's office before the fire truck put an end to the danger. This idiot was soon on his way to the states and sadly some time later the commander went stateside in a straight jacket. That's the way I remember it; details might need some adjustment if anyone else is familiar with the story.
