Gilbert said he served in the Air Force from 1971 -1974, most of it at an airbase in Taiwan, cleaning C-130s, some of which he said had been retrofitted to serve as air crop dusters. He also said he was part of a 25-member crew that was sent to Takhli about 1972 to help reopen the base there and that they spent a month cleaning all kinds of junk and crud on the streets and perimeters. He told me about killing King cobras and avoiding pencil snakes. He believed that his kidney disorder was a direct result of exposure to AO and he filed a claim in 2008 that was ultimately denied several times.
Does anyone remember him, or remember that clean-up operation or its link to AO exposure? Please e-mail me at rrosario@pioneerpress.com
I would need to hear back no later than Thursday end of business day. Thanks.
