Re: long lost friends
John: You must have been there in 1964 or earlier. When I got there in Jul 65 we had an NCO Club and the theater was a cement builing w/chairs and snakes and creatures crawling over your feet and 8 MM movies! Beer and sodas were a DIME for either and a carton of cigarettes was $1.10! They'd built a boardwalk adjacent to the dirt road that led from the flightline to the main base area. I remember all the construction that went on during my year there. Base completely changed. I had been at Duluth IAP before going to Takhli and it seemed funny sitting around the pools outside the O Club on Christmas day! Pool was open to all. The BX was in a rroom in the "Green Monster" and all you could get were the essentials. They'd built hooches not far from the Green Monster and that's where I stayed until I left. Takhli was a great assignment for me! Keep the memories coming! Bob
