Re: harbor beach industries

I moved to Port Hope in 2006. The industry remaining in Harbor Beach was Dow AgriSciences. It was sold to another firm, and then was sold to Sensient. The plant has been expanded. There's a tankless or saddle tank steam switcher on the property inside the gates. The line from Harbor Beach to Ruth is railbanked, but it looks as if the elevator in Ruth is not using much rail anymore. There's no industry left in Port Hope with the closure of the elevator there some years ago. I think that the land north of Harbor Beach reverted to the prior owners or their heirs. It would take a massive disruption of the park on the north side of HB to reinstall rail. To revive service to Port Hope would require revival of the M-25 crossings south of HB, north of HB, and south of PH, not to mention crossings of Section Line & Filion Rds, plus a number of other less-traveled roads. Wasn't there an Atherton between PH & HB:
