Re: Owosso Michigan and the Ann Arbor
The Electric Autolite company started making batteries there in 1946, Autolite acquired by Ford in 1961, plant sold to Globe-Union in the early 1970s in antitrust agreement, and Johnson Controls bought Globe-Union in 1978. Batteries were shipped by rail until approximately 1988-1989. The last rail car inside the building was a boxcar of lumber, used for battery processing.
