Back in my high school days my buddy bought a car so we thought a road trip would be a great idea to check out his "new" 1953 Chevy and see if he got his $100 worth. Off we went to Grand Rapids to see what sights could be found in the Wyoming Yard.
What we found, among other things, actively working was an end-cab switcher lettered "Pere Marquette!" I think it was an NW-2 and I think the year was 1963 so that engine had escaped being repainted for many a year. A good memory.
