Actually the train was northbound. A few days after this happened my high-school buddy and I went to Wayland to explore. We followed the marks in the ties for about a mile until we saw where one truck had first derailed making a mark on each tie. Then it was pulled along north bound until it hit the road crossing on the main street in Wayland which sent it airborn and all calamity followed. Train cars rained down onto the brick depot which was turned into rubble. Quite the mess.
