In doing a little research, I found this in my GTW timetables up to at least 1984/85: "All movements on former PC trackage presently not being used between Paines mileage J 95.6 and end of acquisition mileage J 91.8 must stop and crossing protected by member of crew warning traffic in advance of movement at South River Road mileage J 95 and Swan Creek Road mileage J 92.6."

So, I guess that although the rail was not being used, it was still in place longer than I had remembered. How long it remained in place south of this point down to and through St Charles, I don't remember. Things get a little foggy after awhile!
