The Ludington Sub CTC machine was an older model that had small, one-inch levers to control the signals and switches at each controlled point and a start button to initiate the code under each one. For some of them you had to actually raise your butt from the chair to reach them, or worse yet have to take your feet off the desk! Thus, we had the "stick." It was fashioned from a fiberglass fishing pole (no reel) that was chopped off at about 30 inch length. One of the rubber parts from a bike pedal was securely fastened to the end with copious layers of electrical tape, and the rubber end was notched-out so it fit nicely over the small levers on the panel. With the twist of the wrist, one could line the levers and then punch the start button while still remaining seated or with feet up!!
Ingenuity or laziness?? You be the judge!
