Re: C & O near Allegan
Referencing my April, 1969 C&O timetable (the one in effect when I hired on the C&O), it shows engines OTHER THAN 3000-3047, 3500-3584, 5700-6263, 8401 must not operate on the Allegan Sub. In other words, only GP30, GP35, GP7, GP9 and SW-1. Maximum speed shows 20 MPH Holland to Hamilton and 15 MPH Hamilton to Allegan. Operation was by rule S-242 at the time -- train register. The conductor signed onto the Sub in the book at Holland, and signed off when clear. This was the same type of operation we had on the Saginaw Divn (where I worked) for the Lakeview, Remus, Mt. Pleasant and Port Austin Subs. Since I dispatched out of Saginaw, I don't have any further insights on the Allegan Sub which was dispatched from GR. I'm pretty sure, as stated, that BL-2's were sometimes used on the Allegan Sub when they were still around.
