I think the service you are referring to was actually during the 80's. The train was called the "Thunderbolt", and it ran between Port Huron, and Atlanta, via former DT&I to Cincinnati, and on to Southern RR from there to Atlanta. I remember seeing a couple of different pictures over time of that train with some Southern Power. The CEO of GTW at that time was a guy named John Burdakin. He tried a lot of innovations during his tenure, some good, some flopped.
