We didn't have that type on the C&O in Michigan. We did have mics that were tied into the dispatcher's line at Greenville, Breckenridge, Paines and Yale so we got an audible as the train passed. I know the former NYC/PC had the track circuit type that beeped out a code when a train was on the circuit. I used to hear them going off on their Toledo Branch in the background when their dispatcher called me at Carleton to put out orders on the Penford line. God forbid the train dies or goes into emergency for an extended period on one of them!
