New rails have been "laid" to the depot in Charlevoix in anticipation of the next arrival, June 26th, 2017 at 2:30PM. The Charlevoix Historical Society is hosting a gala event on Sunday the 25th and a commemoration on Monday the 26th to mark the 125th anniversary of the coming of rails to Charlevoix. It took 19 more years to get rail service to Charlevoix than Petoskey. The historical society has an interesting booklet for sale ($10) describing the railroad history there. I attended an interesting presentation on the subject Wednesday evening. It was well worth the trip.
