Just returned from a 7 day trip to the U P. Did some train looking as well as the Pictured Rocks/Shipwreck viewing/Soo Saint Marie things. Here is a little of my train sightings. Sunday, July 18th, nothing between Seney and Munising, including the paper mill there. Tuesday, went south to highway #2 from Manistique to Gulliver. Did not see anything at the Manistique paper mill, but did not go completely around it. When I got to Gulliver, there was a CN train switching the log place, with about 20 cars of various types, mostly loaded log cars. CN #5400 doing the work. Wednesday, left Seney and went to St. Ignace via Trout Lake. There were no cars visible in Newberry, but there was a CN loco east of town not running. Of course, there were some cars of various kinds in the Trout Lake yard. No loco visible. Thursday, I went to Rudyard and then the Soo. Seen an emptly gon on the siding in Rudyard, but no other trains or cars between there and the Soo. At the Soo, of course, the big lift bridge was in the up position, so I knew that there were no trains going there any time soon. After that, I did not do any more train searching. Had a great time however. I want to send a big thanks to Tom Train, and AGS for their helpful train watching information last month. At least I got to see an operational one during my trip. One more thing. Other than the Fox River motel where I spent 3 nights at, and Andy's bar and restaurant there is really nothing happening in Seney.
