East bound with mucho loads of taconite usually passed through Manistique around 14:00. With time adjustments; Cooks, the US2 overpass, and Gulliver are viewing places. Parking along the River Road just west of the overpass is my choice spot.
The local is not easy. Have seen them working the mill after Legion meeting say 21:30. Been out walking the dog, Oh Clock dark +/- 02:00 and heard horns in Manistique and/or Thompson. This morning head the vibration and then horns for Cooks around 06:00. Bear in mind I am retired and don't have a watch, so times are Kentucky wind-age.
Gladstone has a very active yard along US2. And so it goes. If you are into photography, you might want to bring a short to medium telephoto, in addition to the regular lens.
There may be, but I don't know of a place where you can sit and drink the beverage of your choice.
Sorry you can't see a car ferry loading, but the dock is still there....somewhat.
Bring lots of money, da UP needs it
Have not seen any thing from Tom in a while, but maybe he can tell you his "hot spots"
