Just finished some work at the VFW, and heard the horns of the daily east bound train. Hot footed it over to a one lane dirt crossing in time to catch CN2712 leading. First half the usual two and three funnel taconite cars. Midship power was CN8920, followed by a bunch of empty bulk head loggers, 4 Limestone flurry cars plus a couple of similar cars painted black, a couple of empty spline cars, and a bunch of coil cars most with out covers. Couple of odds and ends including a blue box are it for today's east bound run. A question regards the cover less coil cars. How do they get their covers back? As I recall, they are mostly numbered the same as the car. Also, does the mill have to accept cars without covers? And does the end user have to accept coils of steel wet and rusty from rain, and dirty from traveling is open coil cars? Or is there a price break for shipment w/o cover? Got down to mid 40's last night, which made the skeeters hungry.
