The old Milwaukee Road depot in Channing is still in regular use by ELS crews. I couldn’t see what was on all those pallets on the ground in the parking lot. The Channing yard has the usual variety of rolling stock in storage.
Long string of log cars being loaded at the wood lot a couple miles south of the Louisiana-Pacific OSB mill (just south of Carbis Rd.)
Substantial maintenance of way is taking place around Pembine, WI and south. Lots of contractors replacing thousands of ties. I think the ELS received a grant from the state of Wisconsin to keep the track operable. Glad to see this is now taking place. Ties are laid out or in bundles south just past Wausaukee, but no further south.
Lots of log cars being loaded on the wye in Crivitz. I assume that white building to the left of the yellow truck is the old Milwaukee Road depot. It’s looking a little rough. That’s an interesting little yard engine – sorry it’s blurry – I didn’t want to linger or attract attention by getting out of the car. Perhaps someone else has a better picture or the story behind this little engine. For those who might wonder, there are 3 LP gas propane car unloading stations at Lakes Gas.
