I’ve wondered what the CN ore yard in Escanaba looks like and on May 13 I had the opportunity to look for it. I got lucky and saw a remote control unit advancing the loaded ore train into the unloader car-by-car. Not a person in sight.

On the way out, the gates came down and I had to stop for an empty train headed out. In this picture you can see the remote control unit in the distance moving away from the camera and the empty train heading out.

While there, I went to look for the E&LS shops. Easy to see next to the boat launch. The string of old parts engines are still parked next to the fence.

Further east along US-2 on this evening, a string of log cars were being loaded from a logging truck at Ensign.
