When I lived in Niagara in the mid-1970s I would occasionally see what the C&NW called the Stambaugh Turn from Escanaba to Stambaugh and back. The train was typically a pair of "hefalumps" (re-engined Baldwin road switchers) and about 35-40 ore cars. I think it ran just once a week at that time. The loaded cars were tagged "Sherwood coarse." It was one of, if not the last mine shipping raw ore, not pellets from the Menominee Range.
