My wife and I made a Marquette turn for our 35th anniversary.
April 7: P
lenty of logs at New Page Gulliver Yard. No cars there but 13 mtys in town.
Manistique: One CN box on interchange track.
Gladstone: 412 departwd for the Soo at 12:01p with IC2711 leading and CN 2342, the DP unit with 133 cars. No other power evident in the yard.
Turned north on M-35 and met a local with 38 cars, 19 log loads,with the rest mty open hoppers and gons. Power was UP 5073 and CN 5402.
April 8:
Ishpeming: VLIX 7222 stored awaiting the opening of the Republic processing plant IIT is at the east end of the yard by the yard office.
Munising: 4 box cars and one tanker outside the mill.
Newberry: CN 5854(GT) tied on a long string of cars at the depot. 5853(GT blue idling alongside. One log load on team track east of depot, and one load at Besse. Nothing at Industrial park and hasn't been for a couple of years.
Trout Lake: 37 log cars stored on St. Ignace stub. All AC and WC lettered.
