The rails are more or less still in place as far as Republic Junction with the LS&I north of Republic. Some of the crossings are missing, for example, M-95 at Republic. MDOT repaved the road some years ago and took out the crossing with the understanding that if rail service started up again they would have to re-install the crossing. I've been here 21 years and have never gone farther north than the Michigamme River. The track was brushed out another 2 miles past the river to Witch Lake this past Summer for storage, but no cars have been shoved up there yet. I would have no problem with going over the bridge, unlike the C&NW the Milwaukee took care of their bridges.
