Re: GTW line to Carson City..?
This goes way back, but the last I ever read anything about the track you are asking about is, Sweetline Railroad was an actual railroad put together by a group of farmers, and Kelloggs elevator in Carson City. They leased a former Michigan Northern GP-7 #1606 and such that at one time was hoping for running grain and farm products out of Carson City to the connection at Middleton..I don't know how long this actually took place, but apparently it didn't last very long, so, that group decided to get a bunch of track mobiles/speeders, or what ever you call them to run them during the summer months kinda' like a rally of sorts. I know they did this for a couple of summers, but I haven't heard anything more about this for many years. Don't hold your breath waiting for actual trains to run these tracks again. Just the cost to rehab the tracks now days for what little freight that could possibly be obtained would be senseless. You could possibly find more informatin online by searching Sweetline Railroad Carson city michigan.
