I'm catching some discussion on the former Buick City site. The only rail service currently happening there is the vehicle loading/unloading going on where the former car loading was done during Buick Production years, that ended in July 1999. Racer Trust has sold a section of land that was located between Industrial Ave, and North Street. This piece of land was never actually used as a production site, so the contamination there was relatively low. That is where the new building is going up. No rail service expected there. The Lear Seating building is just south of Hamilton ave, and there is some old imbedded rail to the east (former C&O "old mainline), but not connected to the line anymore just north of Hamilton. Lear has no need for rail service because all the work done there is trucked across town to GM Truck and Bus, a move of about 6 miles. There is currently no other new buildings being constructed on the Buick Site, as cleanup still continues. As for the LSRC loading/unloading coil steel from Box cars near Carpenter road, this work has now moved to Kings Steel, a new industry just south of Grand Blanc. They were the one's getting the coil steel at Flint yard while their building was being readied for use. They have a new siding there, about 1/4 mile long. Visible on Google earth last time I checked. Picking up Kings steel was a major win for LSRC, but they lost Lockhart Chemical last year after the major chemical spill into the Flint river was found to be coming from them. They have since filed bankruptcy, and currently not in business. American Spiral Weld located on the very north end of the old buick site still ships a few cars of pipe periodically, but is not a major shipper. AAAR, when you read this you may inform your people this updated report. You have my blessing.
