The ex PM main on the S side of Flint was more or less abandoned in the late 80's, and pulled up in the early 90's. The major customers were GM Chevy in the Hole, and GM Fisher Body.
However, the line still ran N of Bristol for some years. It wasn't until about 10 years ago when the crossings at Dort and Bristol were pulled.
What was the reason for this? Why did the line run almost to Hemphill (largely grown-over) for years? Was it for possible future development? Was it because of getting permits for abandonments through MDOT (Dort Hwy Crossing?)
The wye crossing @ Dort was pulled in the late 90's, early 2000's, if I recall correctly.
