Re: Lake State Railway
No auto parts that I'm aware of. The load-unload site is very visible from southbound I-475. I haven't seen any of those 86 footer's there. But, some of the folks on the Lake State facebook site(no affiliation to Lake State Railway) verifies that indeed, some new automobiles do come to the site to be unloaded. Most likely trucked to dealerships around Michigan/Ontario from there. Lake State has a little trainsload site for both load and unload right at the south side of Carpenter Road, and I've seen flat cars, gondola's, and box cars there in the last year in various stages of loading/unloading. Last week it was 2 of those yellow Railbox box cars. But I've not seen any 86 footers there either. A few of them still hand around the CN Torry yard, and I think the old Swartz Creek SPO warehouse still see's a few of them active there. I don't think GM truck and bus sees any of those any more either. The only rail service they have any more is frames, and auto racks. Most of the sidings into the factory complex has been removed years ago.
