I've heard, but cannot confirm, that the contract for the line currently being operated more or less prohibits whatever it would take for Lake State to take over CSX's operations in the Port Huron area. IF that is true, with Domtar's impending closure, and the things Steve is hearing, this might be a golden opportunity for Lake State to ditch the CN operation and jump to the CSX side of the yard. Assuming, of course, that the rumors of them taking over the CSX operations on this end of the state are true.
Steve, my understanding is that the traffic from CSX in Sarnia is being handed off to CN in Sarnia and is then hauled to either the Detroit or Toledo area to be handed (interchanged) back to CSX. To the best of my knowledge, none of the CSX traffic from Sarnia is being handled in Port Huron. Everything on the trains from Flint appears to make its way to the St. Clair yard...eventually.
