On the mainline they are doing away with some trains, and making others combo trains. We went west Monday with a 399, that was a 399/397 combo. We took all 179 cars to Kirk Yard where we set over the head 57 cars to North #1, and shoved them to a west end spot. That was the 399 block swap. The other 122 cars stayed in North #6 to be switched. Empty auto trains have pretty much dried up finally, and we have little coal traffic. So down to about 6 trains each way to and from Chicago daily.
Layoffs stand at 25 people right now, but with over 15 people on each spare board this morning, I'm thinking they may cut even deeper. I haven't talked with anyone currently laid off, but from what I hear there are some COVID payments to boost unemployment, so it might not be as tough for the people who are off as one might expect.
