It looks as if, at least for the interim, Lake State Railway is taking on the roll of car storage at the south end of McGrew Yard, Flint. In the last week, there has been two long lines of empty coal hoppers, and a pretty long line of short sand hoppers put into storage on tracks that once made up the yard tracks for the Buick Factory south of Carpenter Road, just south of Stoneco's business. If traveling northbound on I-475, these tracks/cars are very visible as you pass over them above. Now this brings up the fact that if this becomes a long term thing, there could possibly be some storage in the planning for the former Grand Blanc GM factory yard, which runs west off the main in downtown Grand Blanc. That yard is still connected to the main at Reid Road, switch points facing south. As of right now, there hasn't been any railcars in there for at least a year and a half. CSX last used it for some "end of term" storage for several box and hopper cars slated for the torch.
