End of the Line - Croswell MI
I've never been there myself, but was under the impression that Mi Sugar in Croswell was a significant customer. Living in Flushing, I want to say that I occasionally see the sugar tankers in the lead (non Dow Product), although they could wind up in several locations on the HESR. I'd imagine HESR doesn't get all the way down to Croswell every day, perhaps 1 - 2x a week. The line probably is low speed, as it doesn't warrant heavy maintenance.
Interesting to hear stories of when this was part of C&O. Would have been cool to see freight trains blowing through Croswell en-route to PH.
I was told that, unless C&O needed specific traffic generated between the Michigan Thumb and Canada, the line wasn't really needed. It's been gone S of Croswell since the early 1970's AFAIK.
