I think there may be another possibility or two. Could CN have been "power short" to complete an interchange and as a result they ran a crew from the connector to their yard with LSRC power, did the interchange work and then took the train back where LSRC ran it north to the yard? This would still be a CN crew operating a train on CN tracks and the confusion would come from the fact it was an LSRC engine. One other possibility. Was that it was a locomotive being sent to LSRC via the CN and it was used for the move again. Did the initial report actually indicate they saw the train head west to the yard where the interchange supposedly took place?
