First, this is a complaint but I want it to be constructive. Too many times I see people airing their dirty laundry and not offering any solutions. I am speaking for myself, not necessarily my team.
The problem is that the complexes are being over booked with multiple tournaments. Having a Silver, Gold and Women's tournament on the same day on a 4 diamond complex is crazy. The gaps in between games is ridiclous. In Potterville a couple of weeks ago we played at 9:30am and then again at 3:20pm. That's a 5 Hour break between 1st and 2nd game. There were a total of 12-13 teams entered for the Silver tournament. There were many other teams in this same situation.
I won't be specific, but I talked to at least 4 other teams and heard this same complaint. I also over heard players from the Gold and Women's tourney saying the same thing. I am shocked that no one has brought this topic up.
Look at the tournament for Silver this weekend in Warsaw. Huge gaps between games because there are only 2 fields being used.
I've been playing NSA tournaments for the past 7-8 years and this hasn't been an issue in the past until the past couple of years. I understand the issues with finding new complexes to host tournaments but in Michigan there are just 4 being used: GR, Musk, Potter, Hartland. I really suggest finding alternative complexes like Kalamazoo so you can run tourneys exclusive to one division.
To Bill Horton: I like the changes you've made and for the most part I like the direction NSA is going, but this issue is going to hurt NSA softball in Michigan in my opinion.
Interested in everyone's thoughts.......maybe I'm wrong.
