I totally agree with you, Ginger. Luke and Tracy, to me was a funny matchup and not a heartfelt relationship, a "take a break" kinda thing from his soulmate, Laura. He always had his "Angel" in his heart and I feel he used Tracy to get out of being serious, as Laura wanted him, having fun and running from himself. He wanted to venture back to his days of traveling and doing things his way and Laura wanted stability and being grounded with her family around her. Luke, I feel was getting stagnant in his life and I think the Nicholas storyline was the beginning of the end for L&L and an excuse for Luke to escape, JMO.

They tried to memorialize him as best they could. Did you notice that they had no clips from Luke with other deceased characters/actors? Could there have been some contract issues? So many actors from that period are no longer with us. It must have been truly sad for the folks that did that work for Tony. I was particularly sad for Genie. She was so young, and this guy took her on the ride of a lifetime. What a brilliant actress she is, so amazingly in touch with her emotions.
I was thinking about why Luke and Tracy never worked for me. Jane Elliott is a remarkable actress, and she and tony were great friends in real life. However, the characters did not mesh, IMO. LNLwaas an inspiring love story. A back street guy falls head over heels in love with a girl who makes him better, more loving, opens his heart. Tracy was an arrogant, spoiled rich garland he wanted her money and a prestige. It's simply not a love story for the ages. Even if they connected personally, their story was degrading. Spanky would never be his angel. That, and the amazing chemistry between TG and GF. is the whole story.
