The most devastating news possible. Do you know what I find so eerie? Over the last couple days I found myself googling Tony, checking Claudio’s instagram, with a strange expectation that sadness was lurking. I have never had a feeling like that about anyone from GH, or any actor for that matter, until just this week.
I am so grateful that we have this place, our ongoing love letter to the power of these two monumental talents, at a time like this. Where else can we turn to mourn with people who truly can even begin to grasp what a profound loss this is?
My friend, you were one of my first thoughts. How will Ginger take this? You were and will always be among the great Tony Geary fans. I am especially heartbroken for you.
My prayers are for Claudio and his family, his former coworkers, especially Genie, and all his many fans. I hope now, in the beyond, he can truly begin to grasp how loved and appreciated he was.
For decades we were afforded access to one of the most extraordinary actors to ever grace any screen or stage. And we didn’t have him just for a few films, or even a 12-24 episode per season show. There were many golden years when we could tune into GH and see this master at work 2-4 times a week. There are thousands of hours of work left behind by Tony, and a lot of it remains online to enjoy to this day. How unbelievably blessed are we?

I am speechless. This is such very sad news. He was one of the greats, and he will remain in my thoughts as someone who was able to transport me and so many others to a fantasy world that I visited with so much joy for so many years. Did he ever know how much his portrayal of Luke meant to people? Could he accept the fact that Hollywood's perception of a soap star did not reflect the impact that he had on an audience?
I always hoped that they could bring Luke back if only for a voice-over fitting conclusion to the love story that he created with Genie Francis. Now that hope is crushed. The network had so many opportunities over the years to do it, but they let them slip away. We have lost so many of the vets recently. The TV execs have gutted the genre. Much of the available audience rarely watches ABC at all any more, so what did they accomplish by taking the hatchet to an entire section of the audience who valued the precious stories and characters created on soap operas?
I can imagine that thousands of people are feeling a sense of loss with this news. Thank heaven that his work is preserved on Youtube for all of us to enjoy.
Tony, thank you! Your years of hard work and dedication to your craft are so appreciated by this fan. I send condolences to your family and Claudio. RIP. You will not be forgotten.

I just saw the shocking news that Tony passed following surgery. I’m gutted.
