This is for anyone who sees this and feel they may have some insight. I am very curious. Is it just me or do other people feel like she is often overlooked and mistreated by her peers in daytime?
I am genuinely curious. I know a lot of Genie fans on here have been watching her and following her career for decades, so I thought you might have some knowledge or questions yourself. I have been looking at past storylines of Genie's and the woman is good. She is one of the best dramatic actresses in this genre and she can do light comedy as well. Genie can actually reach down into your soul in some of her scenes.I rewatched the storyline of when she came out of her catatonic state and she played that whole storyline phenomenally. She was on fire, and got a well deserved Emmy. Then I began to wonder, why the hell doesn't she have more? Imo Genie should have at least maybe 2 more Emmys under her belt.
She seems to be woefully overlooked in the daytime world and mistreated. Is there something I'm missing? I don't watch GH now, it's just not a very good show anymore imo. But, I did realize recently that Finola is still getting daytime nominations and Genie hasn't even been nominated again since she won years ago.I mean they are clearly writing for Finola enough where she can get a nom.I'm not sure, but I don't even think they are writing enough decent material for Genie where she could even be considered. Like,how do you have the legendary Genie Francis on your show and not write for her. She would knock it out the park, just like Finola. And remember they even wanted to put her on recurring not that long ago, after they finally had brought her back on.
She just has never seemed to get the respect or recognition from her daytime peers that she deserves.Not just on GH, but across the genre. I don't think she was treated very well by Y&R either. Does any one have any answers or opinions on this? Or am I seeing things that aren't there? Would love to hear from anyone on this matter. Thanks!
