So we're finally in the 90s!
Now this is the GH that I first encountered back in middle school, and the L&L I fell in love with at the LLL. I've been longing to revisit this material ever since we started Sus's playlist.
A lot of it was familiar, but there's also a good bit of it that I've never seen, particularly during the early days of Luke working with Frank again.
Here are my wife's observations:
- At first she felt like Laura was too different. More domesticated than she expected.
- She already sees that the conflict between Luke and Laura over family life and domestication is a HUGE deal. She is beginning to wonder if they can make it long term, just because their needs and wants are so radically different. She sees both sides of the argument.
- She is turned off by Bobbie now. Just her attitude towards L&L, and the shrill, settled down version of her, is off putting.
- Finally less annoyed by Amy. At least for now LOL.
- She's really disappointed by the number of people who are gone from PC. She's especially hurt over Robert and Lesley being "dead" (I showed her Lesley's "death" before we started the 93 playlist, but she had no idea about Scorpio). We actually had to stop watching the playlist for a day because of her upset.
- Still thinks L&L have all their chemistry and heat. She's amazed that they only have one kid with the amount of sex they're having LOL!
- Speaking of that she keeps asking if they have another child at some point.
- She's already asking me if they cheat on each other. She's already side eyeing Tony because of his more emotionally intimate scenes with Laura.
- She doesn't think JJ is a good actor, so far at least. But she's amazed that he looks like Luke and Laura.
- So far she doesn't really like Felicia or Mac LOL. She thinks Tony might be an undercover serial killer.
- After the excitement at the LLL and their return to PC she was getting bored with their domestic settling and Laura's obsession with the Ward house. And then all the excitement started again, and she was just enthralled when the hit men came to the hospital and Laura had to carry a paralyzed Lucky on her back.
- And speaking of Lucky, she WEPT when he was shot. She's so, so into this section of the story.
- Loves Tiffany still and is so glad she's there. I took her to another playlist from 93 that covered Tiffany's miscarriage. Powerful stuff. Sharon was just unbelievable.
- Sonny is one of the few characters she recalls from seeing me watch GH, so she's getting a kick out of seeing him young.
- We just got the part of the story where Mary Mae is introduced. She fell in instant love with the character. It's amazing how quickly we both connected to her. Rosalind Cash truly was so, so special in this role.
- When Laura told Gail that she always wanted to be a social worker, my wife said "LOL, since when??".
- She still loves Ruby so much, and is hoping against hope that she's still alive today.
