I can't think of a single case on GH of an actress who was really promoted by the producers. GH has been male-driven for many years. I don't know if it is due to the fact that the audience is largely female. But it does seem to me that the only way that an actress gets national attention is if she is in a coupling that captures the imagination of the audience. I can imaging how frustrating that might be, but I see it as the undeniable truth on soaps in general. Susan Lucci is an exception, but I don't think that many others have broken through that wall.
Most of you were probably too young to remember the media attention paid to Tony and Genie back the 1980's. It was stunning. They were on every talk show. They had personal appearances that nearly caused riots. There were soap magazines that covered them constantly. It was a different time, and soaps had a huge audience.
I'm glad that Genie is welcoming the interaction. That means a lot to the producers of the show. Actors need to participate in promoting a show. It's part of the job.
It seems like this time around Genie is interacting with lots of her cast members, even participating in the GH event coming up. Before Genie just had events by herself arranged by her agent. Her storyline on GH now has her interacting with lots of characters such as Jason the other day when they went after Ryan Chamberlin. That was a first I think. I'm glad she is just not isolated to talking with LuLu. That was boring and Genie knew it. Genie has a new Nutrisystem Promo out also that I just watched.
Genie has on her Twitter.. a podcast she did with Steve Burton and Brad A. Good stories about herself. Her and Tony's TV life was more exciting than they're own back in the day!☺️
