And here is part of the problem. Tony was about 35 years old when this video was recorded. He was at the peak of his physical attractiveness, and he was playing against a gorgeous ingenue. He is now 71 years old, and she is in her 50's. Even if he were to return, they would never be this couple again...sexy, passionate, youthful. Age comes to all of us. They would have to reinvent them in some way to make them relevant and interesting because I don't think that a new audience of viewers would be attracted to them in the same way as we all were in the 80's. Time has gone by, and LnL are grandparents. They simply can't do the things that younger characters can do. Any ideas as to what would make them exciting? Honestly, I don't think they want to tell the stories of older characters on this show. If you remember Edward Quartermaine, he remained interesting because of his financial interests. He had no romantic story with Lila. I can't think of a character in his/her 70's who had a decent role on GH. The same is true for Genie. Has there been a character on GH that was a contracted, significant character, that was approaching 60? This is not a slam on older actors. It is just to say that soaps are looking for younger characters and a younger audience. It just might be too late for LnL.
