Truthfully, this was a situation where the story was bent by backstage happenings. I think they were trying to lengthen the story a bit because they needed to fill the time between the return from the Cassadine island and the coming wedding. Genie had decided to leave the show, and they were scrambling to come up with an exit story. Gloria wanted those ratings and Elizabeth Taylor wanted that wedding. So, Lee was morphed into a bad guy who wanted revenge on Laura for destroying Scott. There was some basis for that. Scott was transformed by Laura's betrayal. He was never the same "boy next door" good guy after she revealed the truth about the rape. So, it was believable that Scott's Dad would resent her and want to delay her wedding to Luke. Lee was a recovered alcoholic, but he had been dry for years. Did Scott's situation drive him to drink and do the deed? I guess you could say it could have.
